Sky’s rainy day surprise
The Picture Book
When Sky loses her treasured bead necklace in the garden, a rainy day turns into an unexpected adventure. Through a funny misunderstanding, a rain-dance, and a magical sun shower party, Sky discovers wonder, connection, and beauty in places she never thought to look.
A vibrant New Zealand picture book about imagination, family love, resilience, and finding wonder in everyday moments, created layer by layer with handcrafted collage artwork.
The MeWe Power Dress
Sky’s World School Workshop
Years 1 - 4 (Tiered)
Sky’s World brings learning to life through story. In this fully facilitated workshop for Years 1–4, tamariki step into the world of Sky’s rainy day surprise through a live read‑aloud that invites noticing, wondering, creativity, and connection. The story becomes the anchor for rich oral language, early mathematical thinking, and meaningful participation across diverse learning environments.
As Sky’s journey unfolds, learners help create her new MeWe Power Dress using fabric pieces chosen from the Four Hauora Buckets. Each piece represents something noticed in the story — and something about the learner. The result is a collaborative artwork that becomes the class’s shared story, celebrating contribution, creativity, and collective creation.

Originally created for the MeWe Exhibition in Westgate, Auckland — where Sky’s rainy day surprise and the MeWe Power Dress were first introduced — this screen‑free colouring and textile activity invites children to add fabric patches or create their own colourful design. A gentle extension to the story, it encourages imagination, participation, and hands‑on making at home or in the classroom.
